Customers who ate at local Chick-Fil-A restaurants Friday, got a fun show courtesy of their fellow diners as dozens arrived swaddled head-to-toe in cow costumes for the company’s promotional Cow Appreciation Day.
“We had a really good time getting ready this morning,” said Christine Povar, who brought her four children, each wearing partial cow costumes. “The kids are eating cupcakes and coloring!”
In addition to free sweets, each customer who donned partial cow outfits were given a free entree, and those who committed to the full cow guise were treated to a free meal.
“We thought it would be fun,” said Millie Hooper who brought her five children. “We’re having a blast. We had a great time getting dressed and ready to come, and we’re having a great time being here with all the festivities going on.”
Some customers even decorated their vehicles with spots and tails.
The annual event is primarily an advertising effort, but it’s also a chance for the company to give back to their most dedicated customers.
“It’s been going on for several years and it’s growing in popularity every year,” said Ron Handberry, chief operator of the Chick-Fil-A on Youree Drive. “To promote the idea we use the cows in advertising just to make it a little fun for people and give away some free chicken.”
